People automatically assume that Police OFficer is the most dangerous job to have in NYC and while they wouldn't be entirely wrong, there are a few jobs that are more dangerous, IMO.
Off the top of my head, I will rank them:
1. Corrections Officer 2. Livery Cab Driver 3. Food Delivery Guy 4. Police Officer 5. Bouncer 6. Retail Store Security 7: Iron Worker 8: Bus Driver/Subway Conductor

In the USA nationally, "Police officer" doesn't make the top 10 most dangerous jobs... And the most danger cops face on the job is while DRIVING.
Working in construction is the most dangerous job basically everywhere, but you were correct about "delivery guy" - it's the third or fourth most dangerous job, depending on location.
Unlike other industries, police take active precautions against the dangers of their job.
Statistically it doesn't have the right to call itself a dangerous job AT ALL.
