A motion to be introduced by opposition Ensemble Montréal is expected to receive unanimous support at the council meeting, which begins Monday.
The motion was introduced by Sonny Moroz, the lone Jewish councillor at city hall, and it recognizes how the city became a haven to Jews fleeing persecution at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century from places like Russia and Ukraine, as well as after the Holocaust.
