Cows produce a heck of a lot more in volume. I did read that our ancestors were horse herders first and picked up cows later. They started off hunting horses, then herding them, then expanding out into different livestock while keeping horses as beasts of burden.

We still ate horses up until around a thousand years ago. They were associated with a sacrifice held once a year (or at coronations). Basically the king would cook up a huge cauldron of horse stew and everyone would get a bowl.

its not that sweet. its like....go pour a glass of milk, get 2 tablespoons of salt and, 1 table spoon of white vinegar. mix em up, you essentially have airag you can swap the vinegar with alchol of your choosing because traditional airag is only 2% booze.
