Most often super sized fish like that are female breeding stock .. the fish should have been released.

Wrong answer kike.
Older fish arent as viable as younger fish in species repopulation.
I agree on the release out of simple respect for the timely animal.
Folks just greedy as fuck these days

All the dive shops around Austin do an annual cleaning of a large lake. A group of us drew the lot that assigned us the area just in front of a large dam, where the lake was deepest. You could feel the dam throbbing in your chest, and it was pitch black down there. Near the base of the dam we came upon huge catfish all lying on the bottom side by side, hundreds of them. They were about 6 feet long and whiter than a normal catfish. They weren’t afraid of us. I think they just laid there permanently with their mouths open and let the dam discharge current bring them shit to eat.

There was a contest for whoever brought up the oddest find. My buddy and I found an electric drill, no biggie. But about 20 feet away we found a case of drill bits. The two together was odd, we thought we would win. Some other guy found an official US mailbox with a Betamax machine in it. He won.

The big catfish are just as yummy as the little ones.
We used to go catch fairly decent flatheads and blue cats (10-25lbs, biggest was around 45 ish) up camping in Ohio and do fish frys a few times a year. I had a sweet honey hole on the mouth of a lake where it was fed from a river. Just drift along with a big live bait bumping the bottom along the channel sides and the mud holes on the flats where the water was moving and hang on.

Too bag I never heard of noodling when I was young. I was dumb enough to do it.
