The Sermon on the Mount was a lesson to tech people to look inward before looking outward. It is an explanation of the Golden rule. It is to be taken as a whole and not picked apart. Read the whole thing.

I have read the entire thing, it still preaches pacifism and tolerance. Those things are fine internally within a cohesive community but applying them to the entire world (as the parable of the good samaritan requires) is begging for abuse. That is why jews target christians with charity-bait so much: They're easy marks.

Religion is an important unifying force, but the content of the religion matters. If we unify behind a philosophy based on universal brotherhood and globalisation then in the long run we're crusading for our own destruction.

Plus, christianity didn't teach europeans how to fight, or even how to fight holy wars. The crusades were more european than they were christian.

My point is the Sermon on the Mount is not about brotherhood. It is about working on one's self to be the best person you can be. That's all it really says.

Nope. It has some great stuff in it. It is like a very complicated and overwrought Chicken Soup For the Soul in some places and in others it is conveyed in the writing voice of a jealous woman.
