The contouring she's doing with the makeup makes a huge difference on camera. It really looks bizarre when you see someone wearing it in person though. Anyway, that's how they make their noses look like they're shaped differently, cheekbones more defined, etc. It's all light and shadows, same stuff that professional makeup artists do to actors for movies. With the right lighting, you can make someone look completely different just by painting on shadows and highlights in the right places. Using the same contouring technique for "regular" makeup first got really popular with the Kardashians and then all the online makeup people started doing it.
