Phlegm is a type of mucus made in your chest. You typically don’t produce noticeable amounts of phlegm unless you are sick with a cold or have some other underlying medical issue. When you cough up phlegm, it’s called sputum. You may notice different colored sputum and wonder what the colors mean.
Yeah. I used to spit it in the toilet but felt bad about leaving it there, gross an' all,but equally felt bad about using a whole cistern of water to flush it. Dilemma. So I thought I should read up on what the muck is. I thought it was snot from the nose but it's mucus from the chest which seems a bit more palatable (no pun). So... for me...I think I'll try and swallow more and preserve water.
