No. It just looks like a weird distribution. You would not think there would be a big drop off from 5 to 6 and again from 8 to 9 and then way back up between 11 and 12. Pedos don’t operate that way. They don’t love 8 and 12 year olds twice as much as 9,10, and 11 year olds. You would think that with a sample size of 500 the distro would be much smoother. The population and selection isn't described, but there's a good possibility the sample is more than adequate. You can play around with stats calculators to see what size is needed for a given accuracy. Like this one:

As in "why do gay men get used for sex at age 8 more often than ages 9-12?" I can't say. One could propose that it has to do with different vulnerabilities at different ages. But without more info you could just as easily blame the study design.

If the catholic church only had alterboys who were 5, 8 and 12, this might make sense. But you typically do not see data like this in real life except in insufficient sample sizes. One of several red flags I see here. Do social scientists use the term “virginity”. With respect to 5 yr olds? It could have been some guy taking a poll at a gay bar on cocktail napkins. But it looks worse than that because I don’t think you would see these spikes with 500 participants no matter what.

But OP is free to cite the source of his gay “virginity” study. More than likely he just grabbed something off gab with no reference. A quick search on the subject shows the age of first sexual encounter of young gay men to be around 14 and penetration to be 16, which seems much more reasonable.

Well, I wouldn't necessarily expect it to would be normally distributed (bell shaped). I can think of several reason for variations. The graph sucks though and there's no context so you're not wrong, we need the actual study.

I wouldn't call the study you linked representative of an average either, so I'm not convinced either way. Check the Study Design and Participants section for example.
