The vitamins from plants pale in comparison to beef liver or really just meat in general.

[ - ] Belrick 3 points 2.1 yearsApr 9, 2022 03:49:53 ago (+3/-0)

Yep.
Not only does meat have way more quantity but also it's accessible to our digestive systems and on top of that many vitamins need fat to be present to be absorbed.

Plants are our foods food with very few exceptions.

Remember those fake stories of muh sailors getting scurvy?
Yeah that was because all they were eating was hardtack (bread) with some lean preserved beef or salted pork.

We need fresh animal fat and red meat that isnt over cooked.

That's the bulk of your diet right there.

Supplement with eggs. Bacon. Avocado. Cheese. Water. Certain nuts and finally. Sunlight.

No one has ever said scurvy was fake and you need vitamin C to fight scurvy, not more meat and animal fat.
The human body doesn't create Vitamin C because it's normally so prevalent in our diet.

There is a conversion process involved in converting beta-carotene (aka provitamin A) into the retinal/retinoids your body can put right to work. The vitamin A from animal organs is ready to go to work after consumption (no conversion needed). Some folks only convert a very small % of the beta-carotene that they consume into the form the body needs. I learned recently that there are folks that lack the gene altogether that makes the conversion possible; they can eat all of the carrots and yams they want, but will ultimately be deficient in retinol/retinoids. A caution though, the vitamin A that's ready to go from animal organs can build up to toxic levels if over-consumed. So, as much as I like it, an all liverwurst diet won't work long-term.

Paleomom (PhD) covers the subject nicely here:

Retinol prevents GI cancers, especially ones associated with reflux.

The marketing guy for the letter "B" is fucking good

[ - ] Centaurus [op] 4 points 2.1 yearsApr 8, 2022 21:35:20 ago (+4/-0)

He "B" good.

[ - ] HughBriss 2 points 2.1 yearsApr 9, 2022 10:36:12 ago (+2/-0)

No one needs to know this. It's irrelevant. You know the best way to get everything you need in your diet? Just eat unprocessed food. Some meat, some cereals, some fruit and vegetables. Eat in moderation. You'll get everything your body requires without having to obsess over irrelevant details like vitamins.

Really, what does this knowledge gain anyone? Do you know when you're supposedly deficient in vitamin B9? Do you have to calculate the balance and fine tune the ratios to make sure you're getting everything you need? No, you don't.

[ - ] observation1 2 points 2.1 yearsApr 9, 2022 14:09:41 ago (+2/-0)

I like how you said no processed foods and eat cereal in the same sentence.

[ - ] Centaurus [op] 1 point 2.1 yearsApr 9, 2022 14:50:41 ago (+1/-0)

Maybe he misspelled surreal. Just sayin'.

[ - ] HughBriss 0 points 2.1 yearsApr 9, 2022 16:53:18 ago (+0/-0)

That's cereals, plural. Flour, rice, outmeal, etc. I didn't mean anything like breakfast cereal.

[ - ] FalseRealityCheck 0 points 2.1 yearsApr 9, 2022 17:12:43 ago (+0/-0)

All still highly processed.

[ - ] HughBriss 0 points 2.1 yearsApr 9, 2022 18:06:50 ago (+0/-0)

I'm not arguing that. I just try to keep the processing to a minimum. All food is tainted in some way. The only way to ensure one has pure food is to grow it one's self and trade with one's like-minded peers. I don't have the skill or the means to do that.

[ - ] kes8 1 point 2.1 yearsApr 9, 2022 19:54:05 ago (+1/-0)

carrots don't have vitamin A, they have beta-carotene which is converted into vitamin A. some people's bodies aren't as good as others as converting it so carrots aren't even a good source of vitamin A for some poeple.

[ - ] Centaurus [op] 1 point 2.1 yearsApr 9, 2022 19:55:47 ago (+1/-0)

Quantify that. What percentage of the population is unable to convert beta-carotene into vitamin A?

[ - ] UrCoolerOlderBrother 2 points 2.1 yearsApr 9, 2022 03:33:51 ago (+2/-0)

Wtf is that brown thing that is on row B8 and row B12?

[ - ] SunofGod 2 points 2.1 yearsApr 9, 2022 07:31:25 ago (+2/-0)

So, I must eat five eggs a day. Bacon goes with eggs. Bacon, five times a day. Cool.

[ - ] Centaurus [op] 0 points 2.1 yearsApr 9, 2022 08:47:34 ago (+0/-0)

Mmmm, bacon.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 2 points 2.1 yearsApr 9, 2022 00:14:34 ago (+2/-0)

Highest Vit. C

Kakadu plum (gubinge, billygoat, billy goat plum, murunga) – 2,907 mg per 100 g fruit

Camu camu - (camucamu, cacari, camocamo) – about 2,000 mg per 100 g fruit

Acerola cherry - (west indian cherry), raw – 1,678 mg per 100 g fruit

I think oysters and caviar are really high in B12 as well

[ - ] Ragnar 1 point 2.1 yearsApr 8, 2022 23:33:33 ago (+1/-0)

Do shitskins not eat brassica?
I have noticed the keto people are against it too

[ - ] TheBebot 4 points 2.1 yearsApr 8, 2022 23:46:13 ago (+4/-0)

The brassica genus originated in Western Europe, it's one of the few crops in modern usage with unquestioned White origin.
