LOL, what kind of burger flipper do you need to be to have to pay for water at the job?

Back when I was a wagie, the boss man made sure the fridge was stocked with whatever we wanted to drink. Also, we had veggie platters and apple sauce.

I miss work.

ive never been at a place that does free softdrink but shitloads of tradey type workplaces do free tea/coffee chocolate and those places that dont have vending machines rented generally do a 'social club' thing where you pay like $2 a can and someone just buys a bunch of slabs every couple of weeks.

water however.... yeah thats a legal thing here, within reason. even the work sites i work on generally have water switched on for the people building.

Yeah, most tech jobs, you tell HR what you want and they'll stock it. It's cheaper to stock food and drink than to have all your $50 per hour employees leave for lunch. Also, they'll stay later / work weekends if they dont have to go home for food. Bachelors pretty much live at the office.
It's a good lifestyle for a guy in his early 20's.

I've never worked at a place that gave anything for free except for the toilet paper and hand drying paper in the shitter.

The cost increased from $4 to $5 since Biden got elected.

[ - ] HeavyBrain 2 points 2.1 yearsApr 6, 2022 04:44:48 ago (+2/-0)

Nah, that pic was taken in Cali and the increase is because of the new carbon tax.

carbon tax? i thought this is how they were paying for this new tranny basic income theyre looking at starting. $900 a month to declare yourself an abomination. reckon there would be a few takers on that here.

company needs to buy a 6 stage RO water filter for $140 and get water through an established network of water pipes instead of paying trucks to drive water in bottles and having a dedicated bottle dispenser and a storage of bottles and dealing with some dude bringing bottles every so often.

[ - ] Hobama 1 point 2.1 yearsApr 6, 2022 02:03:58 ago (+1/-0)

I tried the bottled water route for a bit, and having a dispenser with insta hot was nice, but the delivery drivers were morons. They missed my first delivery. Then regularly would be days late, bring less bottles than ordered, not show up at all for weeks, or forget to take empty bottles. All sorts of bullshit. I told them to fuck off and bought an RO. Turns out that shit is about an easy hour install the first go round. I eventually added a mini boiler inline. Way less hassle and I use it for everything. Ill probably do a whole house filter next.

Wait... you had bottled water for your house?

The only place I've heard of people doing that is in shitholes where the municipal water is practically alive. Is there some kind of weird local economy where it makes sense?

[ - ] TomMacdonald 1 point 2.1 yearsApr 6, 2022 10:35:33 ago (+1/-0)

Yes. A lot of people do. It's very common.

[ - ] Hobama 1 point 2 yearsApr 27, 2022 16:07:52 ago (+1/-0)

Why is Pollack water so expensive?

[ - ] Master_Foo 1 point 2.1 yearsApr 5, 2022 23:37:48 ago (+1/-0)

It's a old brand from Maine. Probably the first brand of spring water.
The water isn't what is expensive, the packaging and distribution and marketing is.

[ - ] Broc_Liath 1 point 2.1 yearsApr 6, 2022 07:04:29 ago (+1/-0)

Also, whoever's running the thing is skimming a healthy margin off the top.

[ - ] TomMacdonald 0 points 2.1 yearsApr 6, 2022 10:38:22 ago (+0/-0)

Right. It costs $1 for 5 gallons from culligan

[ - ] UncleDoug 1 point 2.1 yearsApr 5, 2022 23:18:43 ago (+1/-0)

Haha an employer can't stop you from breathing or having access to water.

Skull drag both Sandra and Michelle and steal their water.

[ - ] Broc_Liath 0 points 2.1 yearsApr 6, 2022 07:03:28 ago (+0/-0)

Are they the employer? Could be employees being entrepreneurial, $5 a month is still retarded though.

man i worked for Sheffield Wednesday FC for a few months about 10 years ago. that was the shit. youd stand at a door ushering people until the match started, then go inside away from the crowd, file through the kitchens and load up a plate with the same shit the VIPs were getting fed, get to a dining room, free softdrink, then half time youd be ushering people again.
