What's the tl;dr of this rant about C that translates to Rust being doomed?

She's a libtarded rust core developer.

And her rant about C is sophomoric at best.

Oh, so Rust is doomed because a core developer is an idiot. Makes sense.

Are you one of those guys who loves to talk about programming but does none of it? I work with a kid who loves to talk about rust, keeps talking about how he is "going to install Arch". It just seems like a big old LARP to me. Like he is just memeing to connect with me.

Are you building something in Rust?

I use rust professionally about 20 percent of the time.

I also as a hobby am using rust for a distributed p2p app.

Okay that is good. I am just tired of the constant larping from supposed devs. I am not trying to gatekeep, I am just doing this as a job to pay the bills.

I do have personal projects of course, but out of necessity.

I am surprised rust is being used professionally.

I sold it to my firm as a viable C++ alternative for some non critical path stuff.

rust is getting a lot of traction. it's the go-to choice for systems-level project in a lot of places.

There is no need to use every new-fangled language that pops up. Seems to me this chick is just complaining for the sake of writing an article and sounding smart.
I have never understood people's fascination with running to every new thing on the block.

she's going for tech street cred. bitching about using C compilers to parse headers is ridiculous.

C exposes the machine architecture to you, providing a limited amount of portability but also a great deal of control over the machine code that comes out including where your data is stored and how. It's also not perfect. Computer science was not well developed when it was invented, and people were looking something neater than assembly. They were thinking about writing an OS. Not thinking about "how do I develop an app ecosystem". C now is used for that, particularly in the Linux ecosystem.

There was too much retard spittle coming with the http packets. Was that thing complaining about needing to use C to parse C?

[ - ] v0atmage [op] 0 points 3 yearsApr 4, 2022 16:08:46 ago (+0/-0)

You hit the nail on the head.

Having to interact with C from my high level language is literally rape! Down with the Patriarchy!!!!
