This is related to @NationalSocialism's post on Kay Griggs and I want to give him credit for his post which reminded me of it.

Kay Griggs was 100% in everything she said, and from what I understand (I haven't watched all of her interview) she said that her husband Colonel George Griggs was part of an assassination team that murdered Admiral Jeremy Boorda. In 1996, I had been recently discharged from the navy when this happened and it disturbed me terribly. Admiral Boorda was very highly regarded by enlisted sailors, and his alleged suicide stunned me. Working in administration, I remember seeing his name frequently because he was the Commander of Naval Military Personnel (NMPC). Knowing of the man's reputation, it seemed incredible, unbelievable.

It turns out my instincts were correct. They tried to blame the suicide on Boorda's shame from wearing decorations he wasn't entitled to, but the man who went from enlisted to Chief of Naval Operations (the highest position in the navy) knew exactly what he was entitled to wear. It was a cover story, and a clumsy one. It was absolutely false.

It's interesting that a navy corpsman on the scene said Boorda was found with two gunshot wounds in his chest. That's always a mark of "being suicided".

I was always cynical of the government, even when I was active duty. This completely solidified my thinking from that moment on.

this bitch must have been the inspiration for grandpa simpsons ramblings.

"Who is in this photo" "Well this was a hitman for Mandela" "Who did he kill" "Oh and this is a lady who i took with me, she used to live in the next town over, but she had a miscarriage" "What was this guys name again" "Oh and this is my husband over here, fun fact..."

I don't know what you're talking about. She spoke for several hours and had immediate recall of numerous facts, names, dates, and places. Some comments might be a little stream of consciousness, but she stayed on track throughout. She had an enormous amount of information to deliver and did almost no rambling. I think it's really inappropriate that you call her a bitch.

i dont give two shits what you think is appropriate.

dont get me wrong i sat through a good 4 and a half hours of this. there were points touched on that line up with plenty of other stories and hell i even learned a couple of things too but most of what she said just sounds like geriatric rambling, going off on tangents constantly and repeating one or two stories a number of times.

a logical order to things generally helps.

I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said "Golden Shellback". Reminded me of how Kay said "shellbacking" was code for gay butt sex.

That's interesting, although probably just a coincidence. A Golden Shellback is someone who crosses both the equator and the international dateline at the same time. There's an elaborate ritual on naval ships when that happens. There are a few such commemoration and titles. I myself am a Bluenose, which is someone who has crossed the arctic circle.

I think, though, that the gay code was inspired by the naval term.
