I bristle at your unkind suggestion.I suspected the 'phones weren't smart 'phones but I didn't know why they were called "burner 'phones".

Which would make you one of the very few remaining folks oblivious to tech that has been around for many years....rather like saying 'TIL I learned what blu-ray discs are'. The wonder is not that you finally found out about burner phones...the astonishment lies in how you managed to avoid the discovery so long. I have never had any interest in pocketphones, yet I still managed to hear of burner phones (and Google it) long ago. One would assume that them who cannot seem to live without a pocketphone would be far more well informed about it than me. Apparently one would be wrong!

Smart phones can be burners too.

Walk into walmart, buy a $40 pay as you go android, use it for a few calls, take out the sim card and never make another call with that phone. Pretty easy.

"burner phone" - slang for low-cost, low-feature pay-as-you-go mobile phones that can be purchased without providing the kind of contact details necessary when signing a traditional wireless contract.

Everyone in the US already knows this. Your pay should reflect the successful attempt of click baiting with your title.
