The A380 was doomed from the beginning. Boeing was looking to build a successor to the 747, but the economics weren't viable. Airbus knew the A380 wasn't feasible either, but went ahead with it anyways because of political considerations. Regardless, the air travel industry is about to be decimated and it will be interesting to see which aircraft, if any, prove to be economical.

Shame it wasn't commercially successful. I wonder if more modern engines with better fuel economy could change that
