The ridiculous high prices of candy, soda, and popcorn - as well as anything else - as sold at a movie theater somehow does not fall under the rule of 'price gouging'. Which is illegal in most cases. "B-but, that's how they make th-their m-money!!!1" Thanks, jews.

Seriously. If I decide to raise prices at my store (I don't have a store) because something is knowingly scarce - let's say toilet paper for example. Then I'd be at risk of price gouging.

But somehow jews can charge $6 for a package of M&Ms and $8.50 for a 32 oz soda and it's just A-OK?

I haven't seen a movie since they first started putting fucking commercials in before and during the trailers. It was around that time when new releases were becoming more overtly subversive anyway.

But if you have the foresight to buy and store what is needed for when it is needed, or if you have the initiative and awareness to transport items to where they are needed, then you're price gouging. Speculation is a very real problem. Speculators will buy up goods and create they very shortage they are looking to gouge in. This is a serious problem with more than emergencies though.

No, it’s captive audience. Price discrimination would be if they were charging students or OAPs less for the popcorn. This is about being able to charge high prices due to a lack of other available options within the cinema, so it’s a captive market. If a high street shop tried the same they would just lose customers to more competitively priced alternatives.
