TIL what "love bombing" means (can't say I've experienced it!).

What does it mean to love bomb someone?

"Love bombing, however, is another story. It happens when someone overwhelms you with loving words, actions, and behavior as a manipulation technique. “It's often used to win over your trust and affection so that they can meet a goal of theirs,” explains Shirin Peykar, MA, a licensed marriage and family therapist.".

Its why I think over praising and overly affectionate people are often viewed suspiciously. Because many subconsciously feel they are about to be taken for a ride.

Did you watch the Evan Rachel Woods documentary?

That's where my wife and I learned it had a name.

I most certainly did not. That sounds painful.

It had some pretty interesting psychological information, but also was very gentle with her.

We had to laugh at the political shit though. Evan Rachel Woods starts off understanding her abuse about 7 years into the relationship, and then decides to take action about 5 years after the relationship ended.

Turns out the statute of limitations in California for sexual/emotional/relationship abuse is "1 to 3 years", and ERW had no case.

She then starts a campaign to get the statute of limitation changed.

"What do you want it to be?" she is asked.
"It should be unlimited." ERW answers. "But politics is about compromise, so we want to push for 10 years."

Turns out the new "law" extends the statute of limitations to "3 to 5" years. LOL

This is the reason why there should be a la preventing 37 year old dudes from dating 19 year old girls. 19 year olds are not mentally equipped to handle 37 year old sociopaths. I don’t really feel that sorry for her though. Bet she was all gung ho to be fucking a rock star. If women (or men) are susceptible to emotional abuse and they don’t walk out, they were too immature to be in that relationship in the first place.

Her mom sounds like a horse’s ass converting to judaism. What a shabbos kiss ass.

What if a 25 year old gets into an abusive relationship with a 25 year old sociopath? She doesn't need permission?

Look up Hugh Hefner and Tony Randall. LOL

Laws are always a heavy handed approach to a situation that could be handled better with education.

How about educating girls to know the danger signs?

I would rather a law be enacted to make (((teen glamour magazines))) be treated exactly the same as porn mags. Obscure coverings and over 18/21 to buy. Girls don't need that kike shit influencing them.

Being taught about realistic expectations and a traditional role in society wouldn't hurt either.

The biggest problem I have with the large age differences is the potential loneliness factor of the women. If the man dies when she is 40ish, most guys will probably stay away from a widow with kids, and she is likely destined to be alone afterwards. If the man leaves her in good financial position, this may be different, but starting over again later in life for a woman is a challenge - especially if she cannot offer youth and beauty. Yeah, that's very sexist, but it is 100% true. Can't fight the truth.

It's also true that women can be widowed even in a matched age marriage, but that is statistically less likely, and the results end up very similar - alone later in life.

no. I find that stuff depressing:

HBO's two-part documentary “Phoenix Rising,” Evan Rachel Wood recounts the alleged abuse she endured during her relationship with shock rocker Marilyn Manson, beginning with how they met when she was a teenager in 2006 up through her painful decision to publicly name him as her alleged abuser in 2021.[library service]

I came across the term "love bombing" about 1.5 hours ago on some site and it described what one of my brothers does. He's a smarmy little shit who wants everyone to like him so he might obtain some advantage 'cos he's ended up on his arse in life.

Who the hell dates Marilyn Manson and doesn't expect a fucked-up relationship?

Mormons do it. I saw it through my sister. Something was off when she was telling me the story about these Mormons coming up to her.

Long story short she ended up joining I had many days of laughing about the magic underwear but they have creepy tactics that are very similar to scientology.

Going back she ended up falling " in love " with one of the guys and breaking down horribly when it didn't happen.

Even her neighbor who through my sister convinced the neighbor to join ( elderly lady) and when they dropped her after getting her membership took it out on my sister and the world.I mean I think it broke her. It was sad to hear the whole ordeal. She's not in it anymore.

Only thing I was super pissed about was I told her not to sell my name to them and she did

Mormons showed up to my door one day and I did the usual I don't speak English move and they were ready they brought a Puerto Rican with them. I mean how fucking broken was this guys home that the fucking Mormons roped him in.

They said my sister and NAMED her sent them . Ugh . They even offered to help take down the Halloween decorations I was working on taking down when they came up. Ugh uh no thank you.
