I don't think it's fair to call addicts "weak". They are fighting a demon. You ever fight a demon?

submitted by IwuvU to TellUpgoat 3.2 yearsMar 19, 2022 10:48:18 ago (+14/-7)     (TellUpgoat)

I guess this will be downvoted and all the replies will be from people assured that they are better and stronger than those in the midst of addiction. It's an easy way to look down on others but it's largely ignorant as it ignores the reasons people end up battling addiction in the first place. Also, not everyone who is addicted wants to quit so idk how you call that weak. In any case, there's some demon somewhere fucking with them and I think it's wrong to call them weak. Plenty addicts are beyond "functional" and are striving for excellence despite having one or more ball and chain tied to their legs.

Addicts aren't fighting demons, they're fighting an unwinnable battle with reality, where they don't even actually fight reality, they just run from it like scared little faggots. Addicts are faggots.

I had an addict telling me how bad addicted he was and all his problems and stuff he's been through and I told him to just not do the drugs. Simple.

Exactly, the drugs didn't 'fix' his problems, just made his life even worse.

[ - ] yesiknow 6 points 3.2 yearsMar 19, 2022 10:54:19 ago (+6/-0)

They're weak because they believed they were above becoming addicted. Now what do you think made them think so?

I asked a loved one what the fuck they were thinking when they decided to ride the Horse- that was the answer. They thought they were tough and could handle it.

Hep-C and prison later, happy to report they bounced off the bottom rather than pancaking.

We need examples sometimes, so there is some value there.

If a doctor didn't get them addicted, then high self esteem has always been the answer. That's why every school had expert instruction to increase kid's self esteem - the opposite of earned self resect.

Addicts aren’t weak...they are selfish

[ - ] maroni 3 points 3.2 yearsMar 19, 2022 13:36:06 ago (+4/-1)

They invited that demon into them. Degenerates.

even while I was a heavy opiate addict I was still gainfully employed and doing technical work.

Nigger, jews and drug addicts will never contribute to society as a whole and instead suck the life out of it. To exterminate them could be considered self defense if you ask me.

but it's largely ignorant as it ignores the reasons people end up battling addiction in the first place.

Wow princess, don't you live in fairyland. Make some more excuses. They end up getting addicted because they ARE weak in not being able to handle whatever problem they may have created for themselves. In being the WEAK people that they are they have succumbed to some need or action that they created. EVERY SINGLE ADDICT. EVERY SINGLE ONE.

* Disclaimer- I think drugs should be legal and that addicts should have access to clean and regulated narcotics as they can afford. I also think that addicts that commit crimes to afford those drugs should be immediately shot after being found guilty.

The demons they're fighting are their own selfishness.

Both of my scumbag hippie parents were/are addicts. I despise them and I despise addicts, the best thing an addict can ever do is OD and die

[ - ] heygeorge 1 point 3.2 yearsMar 19, 2022 11:04:43 ago (+1/-0)

What was their addiction?

[ - ] natehiggers 1 point 3.2 yearsMar 19, 2022 11:06:21 ago (+1/-0)*

Cocaine and pills mostly, they dabbled in some other stuff to. Did you also grow up with addict parents.

[ - ] heygeorge 1 point 3.2 yearsMar 19, 2022 11:57:10 ago (+1/-0)

Too much alcohol in my family, it’s a curse. Some generations and branches of the family have done better than others.

[ - ] natehiggers 0 points 3.2 yearsMar 19, 2022 12:00:14 ago (+0/-0)

So you've dealt with addict family members before. It sucks and you will always end up angry and disappointed in the end.

[ - ] heygeorge 1 point 3.2 yearsMar 19, 2022 13:09:18 ago (+1/-0)

You can’t be angry or disappointed if you have zero expectations. Unfortunately that is impossible when it comes to kids being effected.

[ - ] natehiggers 1 point 3.2 yearsMar 19, 2022 13:19:18 ago (+1/-0)

One of the best moments of my life was when the State of Florida finally (after multiple incidents) stripped my parents of their parental rights permanently. Finally my sister and I were allowed to live with my Grandparents who actually cared for us.

I think it is very fair. I was addicted to smoking for over fifteen years. No one made me put that first cig in my mouth. No one made me ignore the coughing and gagging, and light up the second one. No one made me spend close to a thousand dollars a year, every year. These were choices made, and no one made them for me. I chose to start smoking, and the time came when I chose to stop. Nicotine is very addictive. It was a true test of willpower and dogged determination to break its hold. Took me a couple tries (and over six months) to Git-R-Done, as Larry says....but it got done. If you are doing what you want to do, that ain't weak. If you are doing what you don't want to do, that is weak, and if you are pretending you don't want to quit when you really do...that's hypocrisy and weakness, which is about as low as you can go. Letting something (or someone) control you IS weak. Play apologist all you want. Bouncing Is What Tiggers Do Best. Making excuses, self-deception and evading personal responsibility is what addicts do best.

[ - ] Master_Foo 1 point 3.2 yearsMar 19, 2022 14:21:33 ago (+1/-0)

When I quit drinking, it wasn't even something I was aware of. A couple years later I just realized I hadn't had a drink in a couple of years.

Addicts have shitty gene and we should treat them like people with shitty gene that we don't want in our nice addiction free gene pool.

Fake internet points are an addiction too...

Every day.

Absolutely love the IQ showing comments in this thread. Most idiots are saying 'drugs' and 'alcohol'. Not realizing that ANYTHING can be addictive. ANYTHING.

You're reading this website every day, no?

Church is addictive, too.

So is TV. Women/Men. Sex. Cocopuffs.

ANYTHING can be addictive. Low IQ slinging niggers only think drugs are the issue.

Now that's weak shit.
