When I lived in NZ we knew some people we used to visit, one time the wife made a big deal about me not taking my shoes off. I pointed out that her 4 kids have been running around outside all afternoon barefoot. Did she have them take off their feet when they came in? Especially the 10yo that had dog shit between toes. I take my shoes off to take a shower or go to bed.

Whatever you do, don't leave your shoes outside, that's a sure invitation for spiders and scorpions, in that light, the article is trash. The real way is to change into a set of indoor shoes/flip-flops.
