It is a huge fucking deal. The US dollar, a fiat currency, only has as much worth as people deem it to balanced with it's supply. The US created roughly 1/2 the total number of dollars in existence in the past 3 years. If other countries don't need (yes, as in required to) trade oil in US dollars then many of those new dollars wont have a need, willbe deemed less worthy to purchase, will explode in availability, and will implode in usefulness.

We might be seeing the implosion of the US dollar, its end as the world reserve currency, and the death of US international power.
