Probably 80% (more?) of humans are ill by your definition. This illness, however, hasn't slowed down their ability to reproduce.

There's also the idea of truthiness. The example I heard goes like this: Be guy. Believe porcupines can shoot quills. Avoid messing with porcupines. Be other guy. Believe quill shooting nonsense--porcupines harmless. Get too close to porcupine. Porcupine not shoot quill but agile enough to stab suddenly.

The heuristic (simple rule that gives good-enough results in a complex system) of the guy who believes the nonsense about shooting can be less wrong than the heuristic of the other guy. There are game-theoretic benefits for those who act as if imaginary friends really are watching.

I agree that some cucks should be more skeptical of claims about which people are chosen by God. It seems possible for some to have Christ without also being cucked but there also seems to be a correlation--almost as if that flavor of the cooperate strategy had been hijacked/poisoned.
