I've got a bunch of those and I find that the shorts are still more quiet in fact when I fire the shorts out of my Henry Lever action with the octagon barrel all you hear is the hammer hitting, you don't even hear the rnd going off.

I've got 2 single stage RCBS ROCKCHUCKERS on one bench that I do my .22, .270, .30 and .375 caliber rnds. I have an RCBS single stage heavy duty for my .50cal and a Lee Progressive Loader for 9mm .357 , .40 and .45 cal.
All my .44 mag go through my Rockchuckers. For powder measurements I'm going with the RCBS digital with self calibration ability. Powder chargers are manual and digitally operable, both are RCBS. I've been doing this since 1976 and I've got mathematical equations of my own with respect to energy and velocity calculations, I work with metric and imperial when sizing my casings or swaging bullets, I'm also equipped with a lathe and have access to a top quality machine shop where I make my own 720 - 800grn projectiles for my .50, all millspec and tungsten composite bullets.
If you're just starting out all I can say is that you better learn fast, have the ability to mathematically perfect your end result, that being a LOADED SHELL, AN EXPLOSIVE...I've had guns disintegrate in my hand from someone's improper calculations, and another time a misprint on the powder label, I thought I was purchasing W110 and here it was WHS6, I double charged the max load on a 44mag Ruger Black Hawk, the cylinder went into the stratosphere.
Every grain of powder increases pressure, remember that.
It would take me 45 years to tell you everything I've learned about explosives, PETN and NITRIC CELLULOSE EXTRUDED AND BALL POWDERS.
ANOTHER IMPORTANT FACTOR IS...ENSURE THAT ALL MEASUREMENTS AFTER RESIZING ARE WITHIN .OO4" OR YOU'LL NEVER CHAMBER A RND.
