Honestly stating here, my bears do this all the time with tree branches. I've got one bear that gets entertained by spinning the wheel of an trailer that I have...he just sits there and spins it until he gets bored and wants a treat.

WHAT DO YOU TAKE ME FOR, SOME KIND OF NUT?
Not bears, nor timber wolves, nor lynx, I'll kill moose, deer. Elk or caribou if I really need to but vermin, coons, coyotes, stray nuisance dogs and cats are crosshair compatible...well sometimes I'll go with iron sites or 12guage with SSG...the SSG are great when culling stray cats in tight bush areas.
I do have a sense of compassion you know, the only time I'll let a wounded cat squeal and screech is when I know there's coyotes around because they can't resist mutilating a wounded cat...other than that I like quick kills. I tried 5day old kittens for musky fishing but by the time they hit the water the fucking Red Tail Hawk would get them...damn Chinese restaurants weren't paying enough for them so I said fuckem.

Yes, my bears...I've got 3 bears that are like house pets and several more that grew up with me except I don't want to baby favor all of them because they really get attached.

Probably true. Very large animals like lions are few in number and control a huge territory. Whereas cougars and lynxes can probably get by on a smaller patch.
