There's no book a jew could swear on that would make them tell the truth. Every year on Yom Kippur jews pray the "Kol Nidre". It's a statement to their god that everything they say during the following year can be a lie and any oath's can be broken. They have an actual holiday so they make sure to get their get out of jail for lying card stamped.
