Supposedly The Guardian stated he's downplaying his jewish roots, but it's not cited and I'm not about to scour every article there until I find the right one:

No. It seems there are many jews in Christian science. Also, Noam Chomsky loves Christian Science Monitor, and I doubt a marxist jew would love a paper that names the jew.
