No doubt, not even for a second that he wasn't the most talented programmer ever.

Terry's problem was how he focused his talent, because schizophrenia. One person writing an entire graphical OS is an incredible achievement, and Temple OS was an amazing feat, but it's also utterly useless.

Exactly, as a usable OS Temple is as you said useless by any modern day standard. But the mere fact he managed to write the entire thing himself is the astounding.

If you consider what he accomplished yeah dude was pretty damn good. He managed to write an entirely functional scripting language by himself from the ground up. Granted by modern standards at the time it wasn't much but it's still an achievement.

Anyone remember? Or is it just me. When I was 20s/30s I worked in IT. Around 1995 shit went nutty. By '97 working in IT was fucking awesome! There was a clear hierarchy. Those that knew their shit, regardless if they were buff or weak were the Alpha Chad. They ruled the floor. They could code better than anyone and you respected them. Women, UNLESS they could actually code, were worthless. Sit outside bitch. There were no faggots, no trans, nothing of any diversity. Color meant dick unless you could actually build something.

What happened to that? Believe it or not GOOGLE used to be like that. Microsoft, Netscape, 3COM all of them. What The FUCK Happened?

Terry was homeless because he had mental problems and threatened his parents, which he was living with, and they kicked him out of the house. A very smart guy that wasted his talents dickering around with stuff that nobody is going to use. 640x480, yeah, I'd rather use that than a modern OS which works in any number of resolutions.
