It looks like Ukraine (didn't we used to call it "The Ukraine") is basically a puppet state of the US. Seems that we got a lot of politicians using it to launder money and probably some CIA black sites and maybe even some bioweapons labs. Additionally, they are route for oil for Europe and have been making overtures to join NATO (bringing more western military power closer to Russia).

The case I presented is only that NATO offers a solution, not the only solution. A solution to a problem that Russia creates, and then complains and rages about, when people solve it.
Another solution, other than joining NATO, would be to arm yourself to the point that you can defend yourself. That, too, Ukraine has been doing. That, too, Putin explicitly mentioned as a reason for his attack: That Ukraine having advanced weapons is completely unacceptable to him. In fact, that is one of his stated prime objectives: To 'demilitarize' Ukraine. Take out a history book and have a read... any history book, from any period. It won't take long to come across examples of what happens after a hostile power disarms your nation.
My view is not black and white. In fact, when he took Crimea, I could still see his side of it. Crimea has immense strategic value, and you could argue it was a matter of necessity. You could argue the Ukrainian government was to blame, for overplaying their hand and not reassuring him that he would have access to it. I made that argument, in his defense, back then.
But arming rebels, fomenting unrest, fueling a civil war, for years, and ultimately using the result of his own actions as justification for invading the whole country, to have his way with it as he please? That goes well and far beyond anything reasonable.

More recently, there was the soviet collapse and fragmentation. One of the states to split off was the Ukraine. They took Crimea with them but they remained part of the Russian axis and generally played nice. Then globohomo decided "gibsmedat" and orchestrated a coup bringing the Ukraine into the EU sphere of influence, installing a jewish head of state and potentially cutting off Russia from easy access to global markets.
So the Russians instigated a countercoup and installed their own puppet regime in the crimean peninsula. Then they started trying to do the same in Donetsk, which is basically the eastern third of the Ukraine between Russia and Crimea. Donetsk was historically Ukranian (along with the Crimea) but Russia has been aggressively settling it with ethnic Russians since Potemkin. Think like the way Israel gradually expands into Palestine, they stir up shit, drive off the natives and install their own people, then gradually it becomes their "homeland."
Now all of that is coming to a head. Globohomo needs something to take over from the rapidly exiting covaids crisis/trucker protest and they don't really give a shit about the Ukraine, so they're stirring the pot. All the jews got shipped out and the gentiles are being left with the fight.
On the other side of things, the people doing the actual fighting in the Ukraine and pointing the guns seem to be anti-globohomo ethno-nationalists, so if they win... who knows what happens. Maybe the jews get to stick around, maybe not. If it were my country I'd rather have a puppet jewish regime with all the armed men being far right whites than a puppet jewish regime actively "denazifying" the country.

Let's not forget that Ukraine did elect a Jewish comedian to lead this battle and that election is of questionable integrity. This line of thinking involving fraudulent elections also lines up with popular RIGHT side propaganda in the United States so it must be questioned as well.
Perhaps Russia is planing furthering it's interests westward? They already have access to the Black Sea but maybe they want more real estate? They still face a choking point leaving the Black Sea and another leaving Gibraltar. I don't think their ambitions lie beyond the Mediterranean in this instance, not trying to downplay their capabilities or anything but battling with Gibraltar for passage means they will have fully kicked the hornet's nest just to get in the Atlantic. In this case I confidently say that their ambitions would lie in the Mediterranean be it hitting Europe from the sea or perhaps even the puppet masters homeland. I was leaning towards the Europe option here but I keep seeing propaganda about Golan Heights in the past few days.

The only references to WEF from Putin I can find, is that he says he was visiting Davos since 1992. Quote from a speech by Putin last year:
