The assumption is that a degree is worth anything. It’s not. It’s shit. Degrees are shit. All of them are shit. The most educated people I know, and I know a lot of them, are the dumbest motherfuckers in any room on any day.
I tell people the same thing all the time. Some of the most educated motherfuckers I know, especially doctors I've had to deal with, are some of the dumbest motherfuckers I've ever met.
It's worth something to the employer. It means the employee has gone through the proper brainwashing procedures and will likely be a good corporate slave.
I have definitely been put in jobs only because i had a degree. Idk why but they didnt even bother assessing my skills. Ever.
These jobs were far below my abilities and skills but had i not had the degree i wouldnt have even gotten that... I have no fucking clue what these businesses are thinking
We have two employees, one has a BS and the other an MBA and both are in positions unrelated to their degrees. The degrees aren’t what got them hired. They are smart girls and do a good job in their positions. It’s an interesting thing, all these people with degrees they don’t use.
They do that so they can H1B the positions away to pajeets or whatever.
They technically have to make a listing for the position, but they make the qualifications absurd or impossible. Then they can turn around and say that they couldn't find anyone locally to fill the position, so they had to look outside the US.
Exactly. Then they hire some Indian contractor company full of idiots who don't really know anything and don't come anywhere close to being capable of what the job entails.
No real employer cares about "education". They care about skills and talent, no matter what they list in the job description. The only companies you can get a job at doing nothing whatsoever productive are the big ones, e.g., Microsoft, Boeing, Apple, Google, etc. - because they're guaranteed not to fail by the government.....
What is a person to glean from this? That there are no real employers? That it doesnt matter if you cant get a job because they werent a "real employer" anyways? That any place that hires you is a "real employer"?
Your comment is chock full of fallacies and hyperbole and everyone should ignore it.

Implying we live in a meritocracy.
What fantasy world do you live in? The only people who ive heard say this line are baby boomers, female or feminine male hiring managers hoping to con male applicants, and complacent employees who slipped through the cracks and landed a job right away without resistance.
no matter what they list in the job description.
Never saw a general trend like this ever. Ive had many jobs with foolish coworkers, diversity hires, friends and family management policies... It was not even close to the picture you paint.
It's probably a job like dishwasher at a restaurant. The employer keeps getting people who quit after a couple of weeks so he is looking for somebody willing to commitment to something without much of a future. You know, like somebody with a nigger studies degree or a vagina studies degree.
$15 dollars an HOUR for a MASTER DEGREE? In poetry or what other USELESS "discipline"? BlACK studies? That's itk isn't it, it's BLACK(african?) studies (lies). is it a frycook at KFC, BOjangles or Popeye's?
Ive been seeing insane requirements for jobs for 4 straight fucking years now.
Was offered 12-13$ an hour for microsoft windows programming... 4 fucking times.
Was pitched a job for angular and they said no because i knew angular js instead (which i told each job thst pulled this shit twice in emails before the interview). It would have taken minimal training to have me switch due to how similar they are

This is very very common.
