My impression is that Coinbase exists precisely to facilitate movement between the traditional financial system and crypto. I don't think that's a bad thing. If you're a purist, don't use it. Seems to add to, rather than take away from, the crypto ecosystem.

OTOH, if you need evidence that CB is pozzed, this is far from the only or most damning. CB participates in the same networks, like Zelle and ACH, that Bank of America and all the other major retail banks participate in. They don't partner with people they feel like are a threat to them. I guess you could look at it as a backdoor for the banks, but they don't need one -- anyone can participate in crypto just like investment banks have been doing. So CB is a bank or brokerage that happens to support crypto. A brokerage, btw, is what they seem to be trying to become.

Reading between the lines my guess is that they get special treatment by the WEF's pet regulators and politicians and in exchange they owe the WEF a favour.
