That durian (the fruit pictured laying on the bird) probably weighs 8-10 pounds and fell from 50-70 feet up in the treetops. Those fucking things kill more than a few people every year.

And what are they? Well, you remember when we heard rumors of carry-on food being disallowed on SouthEast Asian flights? Those vans were because the subhuman things in SouthEast Asia would bring these fucking things on airplanes, cut them open and eat them. Why is that so bad? Because the inside of a durian smells a lot like rotting flesh. Imagine that in a closed aluminum tube for several hours.

I’ve handled, cut, and smelled durian. It’s nothing at all to fuck with. That smell made me retch. A buddy of mine held his nose and tasted it. He said it wasn’t bad but definitely wasn’t good. Oh - and hold one without gloves just hurts. Those spikes are oddly sharp and quite hard.

Fuck durian altogether. I feel sorry for that bird.

I never said anything specifically about Thailand. And I've never been there. You can get durian in the USA.
