Hardwired cameras on cctv.

Stop using WiFi for anything important, it’s much harder to tap into a physical line that isn’t online.

Wired cameras are the best, what you want is either an ip based prebuilt nvr system or roll your own with an ip camera and pc.

There are a lot of cameras that can be configured to a local nvr and not go to tje internet such as some from amcrest and hikvision. Once you have it setup out in a rule on your router that prevents it from routing to the internet

You can get a cheap baby monitor that you can view remotely that doesn’t “cloud” Or try using old tech that uses a PVR that can be viewed/recorded remotely.
Actually I don’t know if that’s even old tech now.is everything linked to a cloud these days?

Seems like everything is clouded now but I’m pretty tech illiterate.
A ring doorbell would be perfect if it didn’t stream straight to the FBI.
Vehicles on my street keep getting smash & grabbed, so resolution is everything.

I had a home made wireless security system usong old mobile phones and a nuc. Works bloody well.

Go get a couple of cheap second hand phones and an ipcamera license.

If you dont think the government isn't already watching and listening to you then you haven't been paying attention.

Yeah, kind of ironic for the very device you're using to remotely access the camera being the ultimate spying tool, complete with multiple microphones and cameras on both sides.

This is bad advice. Just because they are doing it with many devices you have, why give them more data points to convict you?

Case in point, someone breaks into your car, you get in an altercation and shoot the guy. Police will go get your ring camera video and there is nothing you can do whether it exonerates you or convicts you. If you record on a device you own, you retain control.

Oh I’d bet my life there isn’t an un surveilled electron on the Internet anymore. But If it’s available I’d like to operate in a way that just lands me in the big drag net.
Not in every lower level corporate “you are the product” service employing rooms full of baby fucking soy snorting ANTIFA and ADL looking for muh nazis to “accidentally” dox and profile me.

Unifi Dream Machine Pro, $380
Unifi 8TB HDD, $220
Your choice of cameras

Dream Machine has 8 port POE++ switch built directly into the unit, no need for a seperate POE switch to power the cameras or wifi access points. Simple user interface, records everything and has all the tools you need to easily review footage. You can setup access through a remote Ubiquiti portal or set up remote access yourself without using their free service, set up a home computer with VNC or RDP for remote access to the cameras. No monthly fees either way.

For those familiar with previous Unifi equipment, the new Dream Machine is self hosted software, does NOT require Ubiquiti portal to change settings. Access Points are manageable through the Dream Machine as well, https://ui.com/wi-fi

I cannot stress enough how much better a system like this is than a cheap consumer system. You can set a zone on a camera to remove a bush that blows in the wind that triggers the camera. The camera always records, but it has a highlights reel that can be used to quickly find events.

I don't work for these faggots, just really like their equipment.

Also have Unifi door access which also is managed through the same single interface on Dream Machine.

A bit fancy for the little system I need.

I would guess what you want are AP cameras - AP for access point. They have their own wifi access point built in that can be connected to directly (when in range).

I've looked into this and bought a couple AP cameras, haven't tested them yet - might be a summer project

Here is one example:

Seems like this model can connect to the home router wifi, and potentially be viewable externally through a home vpn setup?

Most likely should be able to be connected to in LAN mode for recording or viewing in a browser - guessing though.
