I'm pretty sure you had to ask permission to do most of those things in most countries 126 years ago (1895). That's not to say that you should have to but this isn't really accurate.

Somewhat true. I think technically, in a monarchy like Britain, the lord of the manor owned all the game on the land and hunting was forbidden unless express permission was given. I'm pretty sure that to this day, the only person in Britain that's legally allowed to eat Swan is the Queen and her guests at the time.
