Probably would have been better to build a thousand 88mm rather than one 80cm.

Wow. Just one shot. I want just one shot.

If fucking Germany had just focused on aircraft carriers and subs and more airplanes and not stupid giant battle ships and giant fucking artillery guns they probably would have won the war... how did Japan figure it out?

I have a feeling German U-boats were way more advanced than we've been led to believe. If the slants had aircraft carrier subs, they got that idea from Germans.

It's sadly funny.

Germany had to rely on quality over quantity in most instances.

The one area they actually had the numbers. Uboat campaign. They actually would of been better off with a quality. Tech advantage.

Once allies got tech gains they slaughtered those huge numbers of subs

Germany had to rely on quality over quantity in most instances.
Historians berate the Germans for doing this, but it was necessary due to their limited manpower and resources in general. Tactical and strategic blunders are what did the Germans in more than anything. They should have taken England.

They didn't have enough gas for the planes and ships they had.

Aircraft carriers are incredibly complex to operate with many complex systems.

The Germans were clueless.

It took usa uk and Japan 25 years to learn how to build and operate carriers.

Years germany never had

Think why ussr never fielded a modern super carrier.

They didn't have the time to build a navy to rival the British. You're right about the battleships, they were obsolete with the arrival of the aircraft carrier but carriers need a lot of support by cruisers and destroyers. The U-boat plan was likely the best naval option.

All very true. Battleships were based on historical strategy and had little effect on the outcomes of the war. Aircraft carriers were unnecessary for German plans and would have been a resource drain. U-boats were by far the best naval strategy for Germany. Wunderwaffe were their best shot at winning the war, but nothing overwhelming materialized — at least not in the quantity necessary.

Versailles.

It destroyed the German navy arms race.

They literally lost 15 years of tech advancement.

Even their four battleships were essentially 1925 designs built by 1941

And their naval ship yards were looted by the triparte.

Why were the first two bb armed with 11"?

Because that was all they had and production of the new 15" would take till 1942 to fulfill.
Better some gun than no gun.
And lack of firepower cost scharnhorst the battle of North sea.

How does that keep them from losing to Russia?

[ - ] Mopar_or_nocar24 1 point 3.2 yearsFeb 15, 2022 03:37:48 ago (+1/-0)

Because they didn't "lose" to Russia. The infrastructure was completely gone from constant allied bombing raids. You pull back when the supplies stop showing up.

they didn't have the chance to fire that one. I hope they put in a war museum.

WHY didn't they give that in MM's? Instead of CM's? That is STUPID. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Nice jeep. Dumbass sitting in it, looking back at the shell.

[ - ] WEHRMACHT_BITCHES_AT 3 points 3.2 yearsFeb 15, 2022 06:45:20 ago (+3/-0)

800mm gun sounds a bit silly.

[ - ] thebearfromstartrack4 0 points 3.2 yearsFeb 17, 2022 05:55:25 ago (+0/-0)

and 25mm = 1 inch out to the side. Gives true scale.

Ah. So they can contemplate lethality.

How about that.
