Anecdote time. I have a very close knit group of friends that I've had since middle school. There was one kid in our group who was brilliant, but kind of socially distant and had niche nerd hobbies. He got mixed up with some weird anime groups online and would get into some weird shit in general. In high school, we'd smack down that weirdness and he'd socially readjust. Well, after graduation most of us split off for a while, attending colleges and building careers.
He went off our grid for a few years and pops up one day on one of our IRC channels as a fucking tranny, posting all kinds of jew-written tranny propaganda. There was no forgiving that. He lost all his friends, most of his family, and got a job at fucking faceberg, despite originally being the most anti-authoritarian, anti-big tech geek of the lot of us. At first I thought he was pulling a sick joke or some obscene prank; he always had odd humor, but no... it was true.
He was preyed upon, and I have no doubts in my head that it was indoctrination from members of the weird anime and porn groups he was into.
The person we knew was thoroughly killed and replaced by someone else. The term "deadname" both frightens me and pisses me off because of how true it is: You literally sacrifice someone to be trans, and my circle has seen it in action, which took place in the blink of an eye in the grand scheme of things. We still make jokes about him, but I think it's to cover up the hurt and betrayal.
I've wanted to share this for a while, but haven't because it feels like it was our failure as friends to keep tabs on the guy and steer him straight like we always did before.

You didn't do anything wrong and you didn't fail your friend. He made a series of choices that put him where he/her is at now and he could've just as easily picked up a phone and called you.

If it isn't obvious enough from my username, I'm one of these socially outcast and niche nerd anime addict. However, I ended up completely opposite from how your friend did, on Voat instead. I'm also the one who spews all the kike-shaming redpills within my circle of friends!
Not trying to shit on your anecdote with another anecdote of my own, but I'm wondering how did two people embroiled in similar hobbies ended up on the opposing ends of the spectrum? I speculate that it is the ability to separate reality from fantasy.
No I get where you are coming from. Anime is a pretty broad field. Some of them get pretty bizarre, with really strange social cliques surrounding them. Just from observation, it seems like the harem and "slice of life" genres seem to be the biggest magnets for people with psychosis. Our friend primarily chose those (Tenshi, Azumanga Daioh, and bizarro shit like FLCL). However, I think he most identified with the character from Serial Experiments Lain just based on his obsession with it and sharing similar character traits and lifestyle as the title character. That show was honestly fascinating.
To be clear: I don't think it's necessarily just anime; anime just happens to be a conduit that can lead disenfranchised people into to manipulative communities. Nowadays you see LGBTWTFBBQ manipulators in places like gaming discord channels and even Minecraft servers. Our friend was part a strange community of early SA Goons who were always trying to out-edge each other with taboo topics and shock porn. He was also good pals with Schmorky... and boy, look at how THAT particular troon turned out. If you don't know who he is, you can go down that rabbit hole at Kiwi Farms.

If the government gets to decide what kids get to see on the internet it's not going to mean less degeneracy, it's going to mean more. And none of them are ever going to see a counterargument. Any of them that do grow a brain and start questioning globohomo will be easily identified and singled out for early intervention.

Counterpoint: Restricting internet access to children means identifying adults. If something is adult only you'll have to prove you're an adult somehow to access it. Personally I don't use porn and haven't for several years now, so this doesn't affect me, but do you really think this is going to remain restricted to dirty videos?
Nope. This is how they're going to ensure children don't gain access to wrongthink. All children's sites will be heavily monitored and running a site which doesn't have adult-only identification will come with all kinds of restrictions, censorship and general big brother shit.
And going the other way? As an adult content site you will also have to meet all kinds of logging and reporting criteria so if the police want to know who called a nigger a nigger you'll have to be able to tell them.
Controlling childrens' access to the web is the responsibility of parents, not the state. If you allow your children free access to the web and they end up addicted to pictures of women's feet, that is your fault as a parent, not the governments fault for not censoring enough.
