I heard somebody tried doing that around here. They're still looking for him.

I don't think they'll find him where the fishermen left him.

Around here the water freezes all winter. We have to pack them in luggage and leave them in alleys to be discovered by homeless scavengers.

We all make due with what the good lord has provided us with.

Why are these suddenly a hot commodity?

Value. Some mechanic with knowledge and leadership ability gets addicted to drugs and has access to tools. He sends out fiends to steal cars he knows don't have immobilizers or steal Prius cats which are around $1800 I believe.

So you’re saying there’s a black market for catalytic converters? Is it because of what they are made out of or hard to get now? Still not understanding the grand scheme of this.

The converters have precious metals in them. Some of them are worth quite a lot.

Thanks. Finally a straight answer.

No problem. Specifically its the honeycomb shape stuff inside of them that people are getting at. Everyone should work at a scrapyard for a little bit in their lives imo. General knowledge of materials is a good skill to have.

Dude, do you even Google?

Between January and May 2021, car thieves stole almost 26,000 catalytic converters in the United States. This equates to 5200 thefts a month! And criminals aren’t just slipping underneath any old vehicle and ripping the catalytic converter out before fleeing the sight. According to analysts, it appears that thieves are intentionally targeting certain car models more than others.

Actually no I don’t Google because they’re part of the problem these days and I don’t give them any traffic. Catalytic converters have been around for decades, I just found it weird that suddenly now they would be something people were interested in stealing.

True - I don't google either, it's just an expression.

Why just prius?

[ - ] binrobinrro 0 points 3.2 yearsFeb 13, 2022 11:00:24 ago (+0/-0)

Guess you didn't listen to the video.

Well they're in California so lots of Priuses on the road. Each model of vehicle requires its own design. This is just the first one they're mass producing.

Yeah I'm guessing as one of hte most popular cars (due to government subsidies) that makes it a targe for thieves.
