Court of the Crimson King is an interesting song. The king isnt the one in control, the Jester is, and they can't even see it as he controls them like puppets.
I was blown away the first time I heard it when I was 16. I didn't know what a mellotron was, which produced those amazing rich sounds. Everything about that song was genius and was the exemplar of ambitious 70s concept albums. McDonald's musical composition perfectly matches Pete Sinfield's lyrics.
