What is the result of most of these "rescues"? This one is a fail, but does the expense/time of doing even a successful rescue really matter?

Do these people go on to see the error of their ways and become productive? or did the "rescue" just keep them suffering for just a little longer?

It would be cheaper to have a guy (it would be nice if he had some training LOL) knock on the door and do a one on one talk with this dude, armed only with a lethal dose of morphine.

Ask about life, the problems, what jumping/dying would do for different people in life, maybe make some calls to family/friends, etc.

Then if nothing else, slide the syringe over and watch so no autopsy is needed.

A much cleaner and painless method, and most definitely cheaper.

If you were consistent, you would also take issue that someone be given infinite good for a finite duration of obedience and a finitely polished heart.
