Yeah bud its good stuff. map.projectzomboid.com is down for me but when its working its a nice map of the game that lets you toggle walls and levels. Useful for scouting potential bases.
I am avoiding using external maps/tips. Learning everything in game, but that map is astonishing.
After much trial and error I decided to stick with Rosewood. Finally getting the point of knowing that area and getting comfortable with it. I've tried Muldraugh a few times but it's just too brutal. Maybe I can manage it now that I am a bit better at the game.
Yeah i ended up chilling at the construction site in rosewood due to the high walls and proximity to the firehouse and police station. Right now im in the top right hand corner of the map near the main city in a high fence house with a small pond on the property.
A sledgehammer can be used to break stairs and you can make ropes from sheets and hang them out windows if you have some nails and a hammer. So certain buildings with a garage door and roof top access are nice. I usually always go as burglar trait so i can hotwire cars.
Muldrauh as quite a few suitable safehouses but rosewood has overall just less zombies to deal with. I use sandbox mode and set zombie respawn to zero so i can clear an area and not worry about the game cheating a zombie in my room while im away.

I haven't even been there yet, I am guessing it's right of the fire station? The one time I went down that way I died, right after getting my first car going.

Hah genius. The sledgehammer is worth it's weight in gold.

As a new player I kept going there, but those damn trailer homes are brutal. I am guessing you are supposed to GTFO out there ASAP, but as a new player you're just like WTF!
We are never goona meet goats face to face.and yet we meet each other all the time. I dunno if it matters at this point if we know who’s running it.he seems cool users for the most part seem cool.let’s just be happy we have a place to air our frustrations and thoughts. Follow the old putt’s advice and we should be fine. Ie. don’t post/say shit that’s illegal in your country of residence.
It was a lot of countless hours grinding away. Pretty much zero time spent on entertainment for the past 3 months, but I am taking a break now. Next week I am gonna dedicate some time to this website, and then I will take another breather before resuming development, maybe in a different direction because Zomboid has nailed what I wanted pretty much.
Way to go bro, One life, we only get a chance and it moves faster as we get older.so I’m glad to hear your spending it doing the things that interest you. Sites been running good looking forward to seeing what you got planned. If zomboid is good doesn’t mean you shouldn’t push forward on yours there’s always a need to improve on a thing and new maps locations are always desirable. Good luck on that endeavour
I'm still new in zomboid, but I love it. Right off the start: "this is how I died" To prepare you for the inevitable death. Great. The customization is impressive, even without mods (which there are many). You can decide to run scenarios like: 28 days later, I am legend, etc.. Your zombie can be slow, fast, nocturnal, smart, strong, may rise after you "kill" them. And now with multiplayer... Well. I admire your determination on your game, try to focus on one strong idea and make it fun... Zomboid is awesome but it took almost 10 years and it's still early access. Just try to make one thing fun and satisfying. I think it will help you get excited about more. I see so many review of games where the comments are more on gameplay details like: "the weapon X sound and feedback impact is awesome "... Or..."You can feel when you use an axe on a zombie" Not sure if your game is more story focus or gameplay. But try to make one thing memorable. Godspeed sir.

Thanks for the kind words. I am pretty interested in the development of the game, from what I've read they had a really long tough road. 10 years, and only now is the game starting to shape up to what the developers envisioned. I'd love a documentary on the making of it.
But yeah forget all the code, art and details, creating satisfying gameplay is the hardest part about making a game, and it's the most important.
I am using Unity. If you're stuck on choosing an engine I'd stop thinking about it and go with Unity. It's very powerful and versatile, and c# is a fun and easy language once you understand it.
I am also using Unity and C#. I made a clicker game to start with, just to get some experience under the belt.
I have a background in programming from decades ago. Basic/QBasic, Fortran, C, and Java (actual java, no javascript). But most of the stuff has changed and all that information is useless.
