I think poal is open source. You could keep the userbase and dump the webcode. Voat always had shit code though I think system improved it a lot.

Hmm i guess both kind of. IIRC voat was open source, but Putt kept the actual live version out of the repo, so when system wanted to make .xyz, he had to start with old source.

Poal looks to be "based" on an open source project, but the code for the live version is not necessarily in there either.
