I watched his announcement. It was ending restrictions in a "safe" manner, which means they allow themselves to sit on their butts and do nothing and claim the data says it isn't "safe" yet. It also means they'll allow themselves to reimpose these restrictions the next time a new variant makes the rounds. Until they acknowledge they fucked up and are going to stop shitting their pants over Covid and treat it like the flu, nothing has changed.

I think the point of the lie is precisely because they want to discourage more people from showing up. They made plans to crack down and those plans are based on current attendance. If more people show up it ruins thier plans.
