Back in the 60's to 90's the Chicago PD used to issue Brazilian hardwood batons to their officers. Some of the old school Irish-American CPD cops from the 60's and 70's referred to them as nigger be good sticks.

Sjambok's are like thirty bucks which is average for most batons. There's no reason for a man to not own at least one in a country where baseball isn't a local past-time. Better to have a collapsible baton though. They're more discrete and the surprised expression on a guys face when you pull it on them is absolutely priceless.

Also when I was driving a truck we would carry tire thumpers (hardwood or aluminum clubs used to check tire pressure). They would also sometimes be used to put someone in thier place.
