I have two bears that understand the concept of tug of war, ones going to be 3 this year and the other one is 4 years old this year. Last year I rigged a 5/8" rope 20ft long and both my neighbor and I tried to pull the bears...no fucking way, it was like the bears didn't even know we were pulling. Their strength is beyond what a human can imagine.

Like you are friends with two bears who live in your area or you have two bears as pets??? I need pics.

I've got 6 bears that are like family, two of them are closer to me than family. The 4year old male, Brutus, has been with us from the time he was a football, the 3 year old was orphaned with 2 of it's siblings and when time came he drove the others off, this year we're going to name him. We've got a female that's really huggable, and she likes to hug, her name is Lashes because of her long eye lashes, but she gave birth last year and because of the number of male bears here she didn't come around as often as the year before. I've had up to 12 bears sitting in a circle with me in the middle, they've all been raised here but my wife and I don't want to get too attached to all of them because bears do wander and get shot. I've got 6 bears that will follow me or my wife all around the property or just come sit with us or take a dip in the pond. I've even made TV commercial type films with Brutus where I have him choosing between Reeses peanut butter cups and Dare chocolate marshmallow cookies, he chooses the Reeses every time but he eats both...I can sit on my living room couch and Brutus will come in and grab a snack from me but I won't let him walk around the room because he is most of the time dirty but still loveable. I could go on. I've tried to post pics and film here but catbox was too fucking complicated, I'd like to find a way to get some shit on here...I have pics of a cougar that I also raised that just passed away 3 years ago that I'd like to post too.
Any easy route to take would be appreciated.

I have a bear (two n fact) as well on my property. They are kinda arsholes, but we all get along. I'm sad though. The cougar I was working with the last few years did not show up this year to have her kittens. Shes had three batches in the last five years here. She was at least 7-10 years old so I suspect she's not around any longer.

I too raised a cougar, she just passed away 3years ago, that cat was a one owner cat, she listened to nobody but me...I've had somewhat of a storybook life beginning in the mid 80s and for 3 decades I was involved in some very "interesting" [things] throughout the Caribbean and Latin America where the worst part was leaving my animals in the care of my wife and brother...I'd be gone on a mission somewhere but always made a point of being gone no longer than a month at a time but my animals were graciously loving when I'd return...they sense the departure days ahead, I've felt and seen it in their behavior. My cougar would set her head in my lap and purr to the point of vibration, she did not like me leaving. One time I was heading out on my bike and Brutus didn't want to get out of the way so that I could back out of the garage, when he did move he sat on the porch and watched me with the most pitiful look the wife said he sat there staring at the end of the driveway the entire afternoon and evening, that killed me.
I love my bears.

fuck off... really? I may have banged around latin americium in the mid late 80's as well... humm. wonder if we knew some of the same folks...

Ya my animals are all on the wild side. The cat would only hang out a month or two in the mid winter till spring (now in fact) and throw a couple kits off somewhere close every other year. Only actually saw her about four times, but would see all the signs. Kills in the driveway, tracks, cam photos.. I'd often walk out in the snow and then double back on my trail for whatever reason a few minutes later and her tracks would be there... that sort of thing.

The bears though. Jesus.... I live near a resort area and the bears just get wild in the summer anymore. A bunch have figured out how to work door knobs and now they just open up cabin doors and walk right in...

and now we have the fooken wolfs as well. Just had a few at the house lastnight, late night howling around. They are a real problem. Two human attacks this year alone in my area (up near the canadian rockies on the american side) and more and more encounters each year.

Interesting synchronicity indeed... Seems we may have followed similar paths at one point or another.

Cheers out there.

A few things....you mentioned that the bears figured out the door knows, well, I had a feed shed and one of my bears would always follow me to it because he knew he was going to get treats, after watching me slide the bolt on the latch that fucker figured it out, I caught him standing at the door later that day and as he looked at me he slid the bolt with his claw and then opened the door and went in...he tried to make off with a 50lb bag of sunflower seed and I tried to stop him by grabbing the bag, it was the reinforced plastic strand bag so it didn't tear, he dragged me at least 100ft before I had to let go or else end up in a mud hole but when I let go he simply stopped and sat right there and started munching.
Re..Latin America, have you ever been to the Beatles Bar in San Jose Costa Rica?

You have SIX BEARS!?!?!?!

Man that is so cool, thanks for sharing. I still want pics. catbox should be pretty easy for photos unless your files are bigger than your bears. Not sure what you are finding complicated about it? It can only handle really short videos though. I would suggest poal/vid8 for videos but that doesn't work anymore, maybe Gab or Bitchute.

I really want to share a lot of stuff here, I know the forum would find it all interesting, I'll see what I can do with BITCHUTE.
Thnx

I'm really glad I kept this tab open, you've an amazing story. Just an aside... there'a a whole bunch of videos on youtube about a guy who owns a bear by that name. If it's you you might want to edit your comments a little depending on how much you care about being doxxed.

So… people are out there playing with bears?!

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer 1 point 2.3 yearsFeb 4, 2022 11:24:14 ago (+1/-0)

Yes? I got to play with a rescued cub a long time ago when I did some work at an animal shelter. They aren't all that rare.

[ - ] mannerbund 0 points 2.3 yearsFeb 4, 2022 11:33:54 ago (+0/-0)

Encountering them in the wild is pretty common too, but it would depend on your location. I tend to come across them pretty commonly when I am out and about more often.

[ - ] Broc_Liath 1 point 2.3 yearsFeb 4, 2022 12:09:53 ago (+1/-0)

So long as they've been socialised not to see humans as food and they're kept well fed they're not horribly dangerous.

[ - ] Zyklonbeekeeper 1 point 2.3 yearsFeb 4, 2022 13:06:10 ago (+1/-0)

They're pussies, I can take food away from a bear but I wouldn't try it with a dog.
