Even if everything I said is true, it is still possible that Elon was a prodigal programmer and innovator. I wouldn't deny anybody the wealth they've earned for putting in the legwork to develop a new and useful technology. This isn't about accusing Elon of having done nothing of merit, or to undercut the appropriate acclaim due to him.

But we are talking about space travel, self-driving autos, AI enhanced brain chip interfaces, and civil engineering projects - in addition to rolling out the occasional flamethrower right before a Rogan appearance.

Saying that these all revolve around the same physics is like saying rocket engineering and gardening are similar activities because the same universal physics applies everywhere.

When I know that I am supposed to be dealing with a genius, or even an expert in a given field, I form certain reasonable and educated expectations about what I will hear. There have been around three public appearances he has made where it was undeniable that this was not what we were dealing with.

There are certain trends you can pick up on in the history of propaganda especially in the United States. Space flight was a massive bit of propaganda in the last century. Look for controversial promises made that are never followed up on with actual progress, but a series of increasingly salacious promises. Elon was an eccentric billionaire who went and got himself a state-of-the-art hair transplant, instantly looked a decade younger, and people realized could become the modern Tesla-personality, the mad genius that changes the world. There is a huge opportunity involved with this, for curating public opinion, their views of technology and the future, and for manipulating global investing.
