There are two countries at war, one country feels proud that they are fighting the bad guys, their entire culture is centered around the idea that the other country is evil.
The other country, founded by seccesion from the first country, is speaking the truth about the evil deeds the other country is engaged in against their own people, and is fighting against against first country not only because of the crimes they are committing in the present, but also the worse crimes they plan on committing in the future.
The first country covers up the fact that these claims are true, and laughs them off while sending more of its men to fight against the truth tellers in their war.
The truth is eventually revealed, when the first country begins to do exactly what they were accused of planning out back home, and deems some part of the men fighting at the fronts as being slated for extermination.
The story focuses on one commander out fighting on the fronts on behalf of the first country against the second, he's a real patriot, so when his country kills off his family like the second country had predicted they would, and baselessly declared him abd his unit traitors to be executed, and attacked by a unit sent by his country to kill him and his men, only to be saved from their death by the forces of the second country, his reaction is a strange one of complete denial of reality.
He's now fighting against the country that killed his family and friends, the one one he had formerly fought for until thet tried to kill him as well, but when you gear him speak, you can see that he's living in a lie.
He calls the first country, the one has was born into, and had fought valiantly for, which betrayed him the way the second country said they would, that he was rescued by the second country from, by the name of the second country.
He looks at the members of the second country, who he had fought so strongly against, who had tried to prevent the atrocities of the first country, which he had denied were even worth listening to until their predictions were proven undeniably correct, and he does not openly acknowledge that these are the forces of the second country.
He's pretending hes still fighting the second country on the behalf of the forces of the first country, even though the reality of the situation is the exact opposite, it's the first country fighting against him abd the second country fighting fighting beside him.
He just can't bring himself to admit that he was working for the villains and fighting against the heroes, even after being forced into switching sides, he's denying his chance of allegiance, he's calling his new enemies and former allies by the name of his old enemies, and calling his new allies and forner enemies by the name of his old allies.
He's totally fuckung lost the plot, and everyone is noticing it, but keeps him around because his contributions are indispensable. Eventually though, this delusion of his will become very problematic, and will no longer be able to be ignored.
The story follows him, as he fights against the forces of good for the forces of evil, is forced into realizing the truth when his family is killed and he is attacked by the evil ones he had served, he is forced into siding with his former enemies any they save him from those he had served.
Ne is doing his best to mentally cope by denying the change of allegiance, he days he's fighting against the same people he always fought against by the sides of the people he had always fought beside. It's only a matter of time until this charade cannot be kept up any longer.
We see the world through two eyes, his twisted view of reality, and the true reality as seen by the officer serving under him, assigned to keep an eye on the guy's mental health, so that it doesn't impair his ability to make decisions.
This secondary perspective is of the secondary protagonist, one who had accepted the truth rather graciously, this guy is putting up a cynical front, rolling his eyes at his commanders madness, but hiding the fact that he is genuinely worried about the guy, who he considers a friend and brother of his.
The commander is even in denial that his family was massacred, he's always talking about going home to them, writing letters to them and getting replies to these letters (in reality, these are being written to him by his subordinate, a neighbour and close friend of the commander's whole family since childhood).
The story is written in the journal entries and written materials of the commander, and by the journals entries and psychiatric reports of the subordinate regarding the mental health of the commander insofar as it impairs his ability to serve his current faction in the war.
The story is a mix of comedy and tragedy, and is an allegory for the ones calling the international Jewish cabal nazis as a means of coping with the fact that the nazis thet had hated so much were right all along, and now that the enemies the nazis were fighting against are coming for them, they are being forced to fight alongside nazis against the enemy they now hold in common.
That's a big shock, so they act as though they are still fighting against the nazis, rather than for them, and beside anti-nazis, rather than beside the nazis who they'd been enemies with up until the events of recent decades.
The analysis is meant to be a full exploration of the guy's who call white genociding jews nazis, offering at times comedic depictions, and at other times sympathetic portrayals, just to cover how this level of self delusion is both funny and tragic.
This story is meant to be a classic piece of literature, about the mental toll our years of hating the nazis takes once we realize the truth that they were not only the factually correct ones all along, but also the morally correct ones as well.
The issue of mine is that while I am decent enough at coming up with concepts for stories, the skill required for actually writing them is something I am bereft of, this is why I am asking for soneone else to write my ideas into a story on by behalf.
Remember to use fictional countries, people, places, etc. For your story, as making it timeless is a vital part of such idea exploring fictional literature.

The damned trilogy
Allen Dean foster
Literaly part of the book deals closely with what you described. I honestly think what you came up with would have been a more compelling story to run with the sci fi book was very good but what you described would have been a lot more detailed I think
