Had a confrontation during a lunch break at my factory with the mask policy

Job I have had a maintenance shutdown today. During the lunch break, the office workers put up a no mask no entry sign into the lunch room where a series of boxed BBQ meals were stored. I was around 50th in line, only person in 800 not wearing a mask. Office woman approached me to tell me to put one on. I politely said no thank you, I'm good. She came back a few seconds later and insisted again. I said the same response. She went and grabbed the safety manager to deal with it. He said just put it on and take it off immediately after I get my food. I said no thank you I'm good. I don't want to. I was asked to step out of line and have someone else bring me my food.

Take a stand and hold to your principles. I was ashamed to see hundreds of working men cower and put the mask on despite the policy not enforced on the floor or any other time in 8 months. I was curious as to why they picked this one hour long break to clamp down on it again.

When you want someone to jump on command you don't just demand they do it because you run into a lot of resistance. But if you incentives them and make the task as easy as possible the resistance goes down. Once someone says yes to one thing they are far more likely to say yes to the next. It is psychology 101.

They want you to put it on just for a second and you get this reward. They couldn't make it any easier for you to say yes.
