Apparently, the Poalers want to know why we hate them: The Voat community staying together depended entirely on Poal. And AOU banned at least half of all Voat refugees, most without reason. You chose your side, now your site is dead. Fuck you.

Don't pretend there was any difference between Puttitout and AOU, putt banned users just for being on his sycophants enemies list, AOU banned trolls mostly, I admit that one guy got railroaded for no good reason and some folks who defended him but I and a bunch of users confronted pmyb2 and AOU over it fully prepared to be banned and they backed off and intimated they had some information they were keeping secret about why they banned the guy.

Is AOU excessively touchy? Yeah, he doesn't take shit from new accounts, frankly I'm over hazing culture on these sites, and I don't mean our normal decorum, I mean the fruitless animosity and flamewars ginned up by retards, SA goons, and glowniggers to divide our movement to restore white power and western values.

I was there from the start i got banned by Putt twice, once for using downvoats and another time when he put all his sycophants enemies on that massive banlist, i never had to make a new account either, both times i was able to message kevdude and sguevar and get them to sort putt's head out. Those bannings are why I headed to poal earlier than most, though i returned to voat when unbanned, and they had the exact same complaints about Putt as people here do about AOU. My guerrilla campaign with a banned account messaging Putt's "builders" was instrumental in forcing him to undo that massive banwave he did in the last year of old voat.

My account name hasn't even changed between sites until a salty cunt stole my name here and forced me to put an underscore in front of it.

I've heard mixed messages about the the BTC thing, but I definitely think that Putt had intended to make money on the site, and it didn't work out. Which, at least with hindsight, it was never going to work. Perhaps at the time it was not that obvious. You either make money on advertising or free speech. Can't have both. However you could charge for subscriptions.

Google and also-rans aren't going to serve ads on a free speech site. I think reddit is genuinely evil, but they are right that you have to have some heavy handed moderation in order to play ball. But of course who wants to generate content for a website that's heavily moderated?

- Poal was created because everyone knew someday Old Voat would get taken down.
- Old Voat and Poal exist at the same time.
- The ones who don't fit in at Old Voat move to Poal and get to do things their way.
- Old Voat goes down, everyone moves to Poal.
- Poal users have to deal with people they don't fit in with.
- Old Voat users have do deal with the ones who didn't fit in with them.
- New Voat is created and Old Voat users get have things their way again.
- Poal users get to go back to doing things their way.
- Poal goes down.
- The ones who didn't fit in on Old Voat have no choice but to use New Voat.

Voat and Poal users are similar, but not exactly the same. Give them different sites to use and everyone is happy. Force them to use the same site, and people are mad.

I was on VOAT for years and it got nixed. I had to find a new source for my fix. Both platforms have a lot to offer. I switched back and forth between the 2 long before poal got nixed.
