If it isn't squeezed from a tit, it's not milk. I'm so tired of the fake pretending to be real.

Lots of talk about phytoestrogens. Isn't the reason plants evolved those was to wreck reproduction of animals that ate them, thus put pressure to evolve to avoid those plants?

[ - ] PostWallHelena 1 point 3.3 yearsJan 31, 2022 22:58:24 ago (+1/-0)

No. Some plants want you to eat them because you spread their seeds. I assume oats are one of those. Anyway oats are so domesticated what would be the incentive for them to poison humans? Oats rely on humans totally at this point.

[ - ] Prairie 1 point 3.3 yearsJan 31, 2022 23:12:51 ago (+1/-0)

Right, I meant things like soy that have phytoestrogens.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 1 point 3.2 yearsFeb 1, 2022 15:51:50 ago (+1/-0)

I thought oats had a lot of phytoestrogens (isoflavones) but I checked and it seems oats inhibit estrogen through tocopherols. Huh. Well maybe you can take the oats to cancel out the soy?

[ - ] Prairie 0 points 3.2 yearsFeb 1, 2022 23:05:06 ago (+0/-0)

Well shit, I never actually did research, just things I'd heard. I think I'd fallen for the trolls who try to call everything a jew conspiracy. If they're right then all those things are bad listed below. Not going to start having lots of soy but will reconsider.

Phytoestrogens are trace biochemicals produced by plants that act like estrogens in animal cells and bodies. A number of epidemiological studies have reported a connection between high dietary intake of phytoestrogens and lower rates of certain cancers, cardiovascular problems, and menopausal symptoms. It is believed that phytoestrogens could compete with estradiol for binding to intercellular estrogen receptors. Although still inconclusive, scientific evidence is accumulating to suggest that phytoestrogens may have a role in preventing chronic disease. An especially strong body of evidence suggests that they may be effective in preventing and treating prostate cancer, due to their antiandrogenic properties.

Sources of Phytoestrogens

Although phytoestrogens of one kind or another occur in many different plants, only certain species contain medicinally significant amounts. Among the food plants, legume seeds (beans, peas) and especially soy products are the most prominent sources of isoflavones. Flax seed contains the highest total phytoestrogen content followed by soy bean and tofu. Isoflavones are found in high concentration in soy bean and soy bean products (e.g., tofu), whereas lignans are mainly found in flax seed.
The content varies in different foods with some foods having a stronger effect than others. The content varies within the same group of foods, e.g., soy beverages depending on processing and type of soy bean used. The list of foods that contain phytoestrogens includes soy beans, tofu, tempeh, soy beverages, linseed (flax), sesame seeds, wheat, berries, oats, barley, dried beans, lentils, rice, alfalfa, mung beans, apples, carrots, wheat germ, ricebran, and soy linseed bread.4 Daily intakes of 45 mg of phytoestrogens have been shown to have beneficial stabilizing effects on hormone balance.
Various kinds of phytoestrogens are also found in many medicinal herbs, including red clover, black cohosh, alfalfa, hops, licorice, and turmeric.

Sounds like the one about how soy products will transform male hormones into female ones or something like that, which isn't true.

Edit to say that I did a quick search after posting this and, while it's true that consuming a lot of soy can cause elevated levels of estrogen thus suppressing testosterone levels, it's not a significant enough effect that would "feminize" a male. Still, if you're concerned about keeping your test levels as high as possible, you'll probably want to diversify your sources of protein.

I love how everyone forgets that VAST numbers of people in Asia eat a LOT of soy products. Of course I’m sure that its easy to dismiss that with more than a soupçon of racism and imply that Asian men arent “manly enough “. And once you get that out of them they don’t have a logical leg to stand on.

LMAO "Yes asain men eat a lot of soy and are obviously girls boys, but that's not logical!

[ - ] Wahaha 1 point 3.2 yearsFeb 1, 2022 11:43:30 ago (+1/-0)

Asia is the best example, as it is full of girly looking men. Asians are also of smaller height on average. Smaller everything, really.

[ - ] Splooge 4 points 3.3 yearsJan 31, 2022 19:49:40 ago (+4/-0)

How in the fuck do you milk an oat? Or an almond for that matter? A soybean?

[ - ] RepublicanNerd 2 points 3.3 yearsJan 31, 2022 20:45:16 ago (+2/-0)

Yep, never seen teats on any of those.

[ - ] kes8 2 points 3.3 yearsJan 31, 2022 21:26:18 ago (+2/-0)

it's literally just water run through them, so all the pesticides and chemical shit gets washed into them. it's pretty terrible shit.

I'll take two triple venti pumpkin spice lattes with extra hot goy milk, please and thank you m'lady.

[ - ] lord_nougat 2 points 3.3 yearsJan 31, 2022 18:24:33 ago (+2/-0)

Would you like fries ~~in~~ with that?

[ - ] Hall_of_Cost 6 points 3.3 yearsJan 31, 2022 18:38:26 ago (+6/-0)

First, I'd like you to assure me that they are not soggy fries. Then you can start a fresh batch in the fryer. I'll also need some non-gluten keto fries for my non-binary, genderfluid, pansexual, transhumanist, genderqueer nonconformist marshmallow-kin life partner. Xe/Xer stomach got upset last time we ate here so you're lucky we even came back. Yes, I fully expect a discount and if not I'll be needing to talk to the (hopefully nonwhite manager.)

[ - ] lord_nougat 6 points 3.3 yearsJan 31, 2022 18:42:36 ago (+6/-0)

This sounds incredibly the exact way that someone who orders two triple venti pumpkin spice lattes with extra hot goy milk would sound. It's disturbingly TOO perfect.

*Eyes you with suspicion...

The 👃 is strong in that non-binary, genderfluid, pansexual, transhumanist, genderqueer nonconformist marshmallow-kin life partner.

Although I love oats, I doubt it does much damage. Oat "milk" is basically vitamin fortified water with a few oats blended in for flavour. Or maybe it's all the glyphosate? It tastes ok, but Cow milk wins, then coconut milk.

Fuck Spez and Fuck Reddit

[ - ] Prairie 1 point 3.3 yearsJan 31, 2022 22:44:55 ago (+1/-0)

I always assume that every one of these nut/grain milks is heavily processed. You don't just fucking squeeze oats and get the milk out.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 1 point 3.3 yearsJan 31, 2022 23:01:09 ago (+1/-0)

Most store bought milk is not the most natural product either.

[ - ] xmasskull 0 points 3.3 yearsJan 31, 2022 22:49:55 ago (+0/-0)

Have you ever seen portland cement? Same concept.

Oh i remember one time when i redpilled a waiter on (((hops))) in the beer and the dude was absolutely alarmed that modern beer reduces testosterone and fertility

though strangely most people know that soy is estrogenic yet are completely indifferent to the fact it is in every fucking product (even bread)

[ - ] Jiggggg 0 points 3.2 yearsFeb 1, 2022 12:01:02 ago (+0/-0)

The stuff from the store is suspect, but you can make your own almond or oat "milk" that's not heavily processed... You essentially grind up almonds or oats, mix it with water, and let it soak for a while so the nutrients get into the water, then you strain the solids from it. I've never made it but I've looked into it.

So "milk" is really a misnomer. It's really more almond- or oat-infused water and if you had dairy allergies or something there would be a use for it.

I would stay away from the soy milk though

[ - ] IfuckedYerMum 0 points 3.3 yearsJan 31, 2022 20:05:36 ago (+0/-0)

I don't know anything about its impact on reproduction, but oat milk is garbage. Oats in general are a trash food eaten only in times of desperation.

[ - ] xmasskull 3 points 3.3 yearsJan 31, 2022 22:52:16 ago (+3/-0)

Your Mum didn't make Quaker oatmeal for you on a cold elementary school morning?

[ - ] IfuckedYerMum 1 point 3.3 yearsJan 31, 2022 23:05:59 ago (+1/-0)

Yes. I should have specified historically.

[ - ] TheDivineLight 2 points 3.3 yearsJan 31, 2022 23:22:43 ago (+2/-0)

I've been eating a bowl of porridge with full fat dairy milk since I can remember, I love them. Oats have a good fat content and are quite versatile.
