See...why not create an open source "voat" that can really easily and almost infinitely be recreated? Hard to focus on one Voat when we have 100s? And, to my mind, if the coding was done right, a user could select any combination of Voats to make up their particular Voat experience. Seems like it would solve a lot of issues.

Because it's an absurd amount of work with no reward, it often is a money sink.

I used to throw banging parties. Band, booze provided, instead of burgers and hotdogs it was steak sandwiches, etc. I charged each person $20 to offset the cost and still lost $500+ each time. In addition to all the work of organizing and cleaning up. Everyone knew I was losing money. Then, invariably, some shithead would come and bitch about the $20 because they were late or whatever. Nothing was more demotivating.

I imagine running a site like this is similarly thankless.
