Physical gold and silver isn't a bad investment, but the type you get is important. Those don't look like awesome buys to me. Depends on the premium I guess.

If you want to get into it, I recommend seeing if any coin dealers will sell you worn bulk US coinage. It'd be sold by weight, and will have a very low premium.
