Doesn't even have to be successful. There just has to be an "approved alternative" available to invalidate an EUA. That's why they shout from the hills that Pfizer is "approved", but don't mention that the approval was for Comirnaty, which *is not available*, not BioNTech. That's how they keep the gravy flowing to Moderna, AZ, and J&J as well. Their much touted approval of Pfizer should have immediately pulled the rest from the market, but it didn't, because it's not available.
