Its worse than "letting people die". The act of organ harvesting MUST be done on a living person or the organs will not be a viable transplant, with the exception of a couple of organs that can be harvested from a corpse. Organ donation is murder. Brain death is a misnomer, isn't always even tested for, and with time and proper life support care it is possible to recover from brain "death".

But yeah your original is fundamentally correct. They don't want to waste time on a slow recovery of one when they can sacrifice them for a speedy recovery of many.
